Joan ButtsCARDS Bridge Centre has been in existence for more than 20 years, and is a privately-owned bridge club in Brisbane, with sessions at New Farm Bowls Club, Brunswick St New Farm ( Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays).
The 150 or so members are very friendly, and while the Duplicates are reasonably competitive, the Help with Play sessions are very relaxed.
Table service is available, and espresso coffee, sandwiches, light snacks may be ordered at any time.
DUPLICATE GAMES
Regular competitive games with masterpoints are offered three times a week. Come with a partner, or let us know in advance that you need a partner. We play approx 27 hands per session.SUPERVISED (Help with Play) SESSIONS
Help with bidding and play as you play the hands. Just ask for friendly advice from your tutor. No need to come with a partner. Starts with a tip and practice hand with Joan, and then play approximately 12 hands.BRIDGE SCHEDULE

LESSONS
are held regularly (with Joan Butts) for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students on all topics bidding, play, and defence ($20 per lesson for members, and $22 for non members).BEGINNERS
courses are 2 hours each, for 4 to 6 weeks. Joan uses her own books with a student-centred method of learning. Play is emphasised. ($100 for the 6 week course)INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED LESSONS
are 2 hours each, and may be single lessons, but are generally three lesson courses. Notes are always provided. Each Wednesday morning is an Intermediate lesson. Reinforcement is available by playing the lesson hands online.Check "Lessons" for starting times for the next course. There's no need to come with a partner.

As the official teacher of bridge in Queensland, and as from 2011, the Australian Bridge Federation Teaching Coordinator for Australia, Joan runs training programmes for teachers and supervisors, using the latest methods.
