2012 and Bridge at the Bowls Club
This year, I will be running the usual lessons in February and March, designed for new players and those wanting to catch up on the basics. (details under Lessons)
The food and coffee at the New Farm Bowls Club is by Chris Merlo, and players are always invited to stay for a meal after the game.
I will be writing a few hands and tips from Friday's games (with hand records) up on the web (under Quick Tips), and encourage you to stay after the session, and have a general discussion. This is the way to really improve with your partner.
Intermediate and advanced lessons will be on in Feb, March, and I am planning a bridge holiday in July. (details under Holidays)
Please encourage your friends to learn bridge. They'll thank you for it when they do!
2011 21st party December 11
For my 21st year in the bridge business, I threw a party, and bridge game. 140 people came, and afterwards we sang Christmas carols and a bridge song. Nat Corrigan and John Keys provided some great music, and here are the words of the bridge song, written by a US friend, bridge player and musician, Andy Avery, to the tune of "It Had to be You"
The Partner's Song
It had to be you, it had to be you
I wandered around and finally found
A bridge partner who
Who knew what to do - with a weak two
And just how to guess which way to finesse
By using the clues......
Some partners I've seen, can really be mean
They can't take the joke, when I revoke
They just start to scream
But nobody else, kept a straight face
Each time I trumped my partner's ace
It had to be you, wonderful you, it had to be you.....

Kathy visits Audrey Grant
Kathy Johnson, teacher extraordinaire from the Gold Coast, but originally from Toronto, caught up with Audrey Grant recently on a return trip to Canada. Audrey was giving a lesson, and Kathy happened to be there. Kathy has written the Guide By Your Side with Joan. It's a big seller, because it presents everything in summary form, and things are easy to find.
