How do I register to play online?
Click here to register to play bridge online. You will be asked to enter your email address - this is used to confirm your account and to log in. You will also be asked to set a password, this must be at least 8 characters long. 

It says a Member with this email does not exist!
If you have played bridge on in the past, it's possible that you are playing under an old Sky Bridge Club account.  From June 2017, all players had to create a new account to continue to play bridge hands on  Click here to register to play bridge online.

Alternatively, you may have registered with a different email address. Try clicking on the Forgot email? link and completing the information so we can try and find you.

Why doesn't my old registration work? 
As of June 2017, a new system to play bridge online has been implemented. All existing players will need to create a new account to continue to play bridge hands on You may use the same login details and username for your new account as your previous account.

What should I do about my old Sky Bridge Club account?
Before June 2017, members had to create an account with Sky Bridge Club to play hands on this site. This is no longer the case. You can choose to keep your existing Sky Bridge Club account, or you may cancel it and play with Joan Butts Bridge instead. 
If you have a paid Royal Membership on Sky Bridge Club that you no longer wish to use, please be sure to cancel it or you will continue to be charged. To cancel your Sky Bridge Club Royal Membership email:

Can I use my account on more than one computer or device? 
Yes. You can log in to your account from your desktop computer as well as mobile devices like your phone or tablet. Our terms and conditions allow you to log in from up to four devices at a time, however each account is for use by a single user and you must ensure that your username and password remain secure and are only shared with residents of your household.

How do I upgrade my account?  
You can access your account details by clicking on the black Your Account button that you will find in the bottom, right hand corner of the screen whenever you are logged in. Click on the Join A Plan button, select a plan and then complete the payment details to upgrade your account.  

How to cancel my membership?
Members can cancel their membership at any time. You can cancel your membership by clicking on the black Your Account button that you will find in the bottom, right hand corner of the screen whenever you are logged in. Then under the Billing section, click on View Plan Details. You will be able to cancel your subscription. 
By default your membership will be cancelled at the end of the billing period, however you can opt for the cancellation to take effect immediately. Refunds are not issued for unused membership time.

How do I downgrade my membership? 
You can switch from a Gold Plan to Silver. Go to the Your Account page and then under Membership Plans click on the Change Subscription button. You can then select the account you wish to change to. 

What are the payment options? 
All payments are processed online using the secure and well-respected payment system Stripe. All payments are in Australian dollars and include GST. 
All membership payments are automatically recurring, however you can cancel your membership and still access everything for the remainder of your billing period by following the steps outlined above. 

If you require an alternative payment option, please email and we will issue you with instructions on how to pay for a membership. However, this option is only available for an annual Gold Membership. 

Can I update my details or email address?  
Yes, Members can update their details at any time by clicking on the black Your Account button that you will find in the bottom, right hand corner of the screen whenever you are logged in. You may update your name, your username, change your email or password or add a profile photo to the website.


I can't log in!
The first thing to check is that you are trying to log in using your email address, not your username. 
The second thing to check is that you are entering the correct password. Your password must be at least 8 characters long.

I've forgotten my password!
If you forget your password, you can simply click on the Forgot password? link to reset your password. You will be prompted to enter your email address. Then an email will be sent to you with a link to update your password. If you can't find this email, be sure to check your junk email folder. The password reset email will expire after a couple of hours. You may have to repeat the Forget Password process if you do not reset your password in a reasonable amount of time.
To protect your privacy, we cannot view or update your password for you.

I've forgotten my email address!
If you have forgotten which email address you have registered with, you can simply click on the Forgot email? link. You will be asked to provide some details and we can try to manually look you up. As this is not an automated process there may be a delay in locating your account. 

I can log in, but I just see a blank or black screen
First try reloading the page. It can take a few seconds for the game screen to connect with your account and this may take longer if your internet connection is very slow or patchy. 

The next thing to check is that you have cookies enabled for the browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using to access You can find instructions on how to enable cookies for most popular browsers at the bottom of this page.

The third thing to check is that your browser isn’t in private or incognito mode. This mode doesn’t allow cookies, and we need cookies for our website to work. 

Finally, if your cookies are fully enabled and the site doesn’t work, the next thing to check is that your software is up to date. We have had some iPad users experiencing this problem if they are running a very old operating system. 

My account won't stay logged in!
The game system requires cookies to keep you logged in. If you have these disabled, or you are playing in private or incognito mode the game may not work and may not keep you logged in. If you are playing in private or incognito mode, switch your browser to the regular mode to play.

Can I play on my tablet or phone?
Yes! The website and gamescreen has been designed for mobile devices. As long as your device has internet access you will be able to play.

What time does the free daily game change?
The new free hand becomes available each day around 3pm Brisbane time. If you are a free member, you will only be able to play the one hand each day. To access unlimited hands you need to become a Gold or Silver member.

Am I playing against real players or a computer?
The computer is both your partner and your opponent. You are always South, but you will also be declarer if North wins the auction. North will become the dummy. 

What is the bidding system?
The game is set up to play the Standard Bidding System, with very few conventions, and mostly natural bidding. 

  • Five Card Majors (1H,1S)
  • 1NT = 15 - 17 points 
  • 2D,H,S = Weak two-bids (2C = Strong, Game Force)
  • Over 1NT or 2NT openings, 2/3C is Stayman
  • 4NT is Blackwood when a suit has been agreed
  • No Transfers (Bid your long suit after partner opens 1/2NT = natural)

How do I know when it's my turn to play?
When it is your turn to play you will see a warm yellow glow around your hand. There will also be a prompt if you try to play out of the wrong hand.



When playing, you are always seated south.

Underneath your hand is a bidding bar. To bid, highlight the bid you want to make and move the arrow until the bid is in the red square. Then click to select that bid.
If you would like a hint with your bid, click the question mark during the bidding. 

As you are playing or defending the hand, the number of tricks for both sides will appear at the top of the game screen.
The robots you play sometimes play perfectly and sometimes can be quite unpredictable - much like a real life partner.

To review the bidding, or redeal the hand click on the Menu option in the top right hand corner. You can replay a hand any number of times. You can also play it from East, North or West as well as South.

After a random hand is over, you'll see the scores at the bottom. Click All Scores to see what everyone else did on that hand.

Review Lesson Hands
For all lesson hands, play them through yourself and then watch the walkthrough the video hand. You can't undo, or claim so it is better to replay the whole hand if you make a mistake.

2. Tap the menu (the three dots in the top right-hand corner)
3. Tap Settings (You may need to scroll down a little)
4. Tap Site Settings (Again, you may need to scroll down a little)

2. Select Internet Options
3. Click the Privacy tab
