If you have been playing hands online, you may have noticed a few changes come into effect in the past couple of weeks. After months of work with our game developer, we have finally been able to upgrade the online game.
The new game interface now loads faster and is more stable, the robots are a little smarter (although, like any bridge partner they will sometimes do strange things!), you can now turn hints on and off, and most importantly we will have the ability to add some new features down the track.
However, some links and buttons have moved or changed. Here are some tips and tricks to get the most out of the game update.
Redeal the game
To start playing the hand again, simply click on the redeal button in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
Redeal from a different seat
To redeal from your own seat or from East, West or North, simply click on the player in the auction area. For example, if you want to redeal from the North seat, click North.
Deal a new game
If you are a Silver or Gold Member you can play unlimited hands online. To deal a new hand, or skip a hand, simply refresh the page on your browser to load a new hand. Remember the set of hands available for each day are numbered, but this number resets each day. Once you have skipped a hand, there is no way to return to that hand, nor can you access the randomly generated hands you have played previously.
Turn on/off hints
To turn hints on or off, tap on the Hints On/Hints Off option in the white square during the bidding.
During Online School of Bridge Lessons you will continue to see hints where available throughout the lesson. However, it is assumed that if you want to play the lesson hands with hints you will follow them… if you don’t follow the hint you will be asked if you really want to make that bid. You can force the play by double clicking on the card, but the hints will no longer be relevant to the lesson.
To review the bidding during the gameplay, simply tap on the bid where it appears at the top of the game screen.
To review the previous trick during gameplay, tap on the tricks count at the top of the game screen.
Introducing the Back Button
When you play lesson hands in the Online School of Bridge you can now use the back button or click back on your browser at the end of the hand to return to the lesson. This will make it easier for you to navigate through the Online School of Bridge.
The same back button has also been made available for the Challenge Hands.
Help is just a tap away
Finally, if you are having any difficulties with the game you can now find helpful links and tips by simply clicking on the Help Menu. The menu includes links to Troubleshooting Tips and Frequently Asked Questions.
